9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.     What you didn’t learn when studying for the MPRE: Louisiana specific ethics rules and recent updates (Ethics)

To become licensed to practice law in Louisiana, one needs to pass the Louisiana bar exam and the MPRE.  The MPRE is not state-specific, and tests one’s knowledge of the ABA model rules of professional responsibility.  There are many Louisiana ethics rules which differ from the ABA model rules.  This presentation will highlight most of those differences and some recent changes that may not be widely known by Louisiana lawyers, including trust account reconciliation rules and other “gotchas”.  There will be at least one lawyer joke which will allow discussion of multiple ethical rules.
